Hi Grantis,
Just looking at this photo again and I’m not absolutely sure it is Mr Redhead. My memory seems to recall a younger, slimmer man (in khaki shorts and matching socks)who actually had red hair. Maybe it’s just my memory playing tricks. I think Mr Redhead was from a family of Redheads from Barbados and was in the employ of British Govt as a Civil Servant. He left the island some time during the year I was there. I think you are correct in saying he was the Revenue Officer. I shall be interested to hear your views. Best wishes and thanks again for yr interest, Bill
Bill I am sure that I remembered you; did one Adella Joseph worked for you in Carriacou?…Please respond.
What an excellent job you did putting these photos together. You evoked a lot of memories that had died. Even though i am not in any of these photos. Thank you sooooooooooooo much.
Thank you for your comments Grantis. In reply to yr queery, I taught at Bishop’s College at that time. I don’t recall anyone called Adella Joseph but I did know other Joseph’s such as Poco, Leo, David and his father Lord (he had the rum shop opposite the old Bishop’s College on Front Street). Are you related to Sydney Cudgoe, by any chance? I intend to put up photos, at some point of the christening of Sydney’s baby. That was a lovely occasion, as I recall. Cheers Bill
Sorry to be so late with a response. I am 1st cousin to Leo Joseph, cousin to Lord Joseph and his sons David and Terry. But most interestingly, I am brother to Poco. Regarding your question, I am probably related to Sydney (Cudjoe) not Cudgoe. Anyway, I am really happy to view these photos, as they do bring back a lot of childhood memories.
Regards.
Thank you for your comments. Lord was a lovely guy. His rum shop over the road from the old Bishop’s College was a regular meeting place after school finished for doms and a’ jack’. I seem to remember he lived up by six roads and always had loads of food whenever they had Big Drum there. Whatever happened to David? He was in my Geography class. So. as brother to Poco, are you also related to Mary and Magdeliene? Sorry for so many questions. It’s just great to put pieces of the jigsaw together. Thank you. Best wishes, Bill
The person speaking is Willie Redhead, he was the revenue officer for Carriacou at that time. I’m sure I am not mistaken.
